Tina Messinger's compassion and desire to help single moms inspired her to start her own non-profit organization called A Sacred Place, a single mom's support group in South Carolina. Deeply aware of the crisis situation of single parenting, she provides a safe setting for single mothers to support one another. A Sacred Place is a place where she gives hope to single moms by teaching them coping strategies, budgeting, parenting, goal setting, dating, and empowerment. I feel a close kinship with Tina, in that I, too, believe in empowering single mothers so that they may be the positive role models their children desperately need. I believe, like Tina, that sometimes a person just needs the right tools and a helping hand to bring out the best in them. Tina is coming from Love and through her efforts is making the world a better place for everyone. Tina is truly a Super Single Mom in that she genuinely cares about other people and the community. Tina has two grown children who are living positive, productive lives. They are the result of her devotion and commitment. Tina will use the grant money to porvide one-on-one mentoring and counseling for single mothers and to buy reading materials and journals for moms to write in daily.
